Straight seam welding of the plate ends after rolling is accomplished with the single or tandem arc welding processes. TSI’s submerged arc welding process consists of remote controlled equipment monitored thru closed circuit TV cameras allowing the operator to work on the ground even tho the weld heads may be several feet above the floor. Visual tracking is enhanced by the ability of the operator to see the weld bevel through the camera, and safety is insured by keeping the operator on the ground. TSI has designed and built specialized cross slides and automatic torch to weld surface controls to insure consistently accurate weld placement.

As many as 3 ID girth welds are welded simultaneously by one operator at a remote console. The ID lance carries a total of 6 weld heads to allow either the single or tandem arc welding process on cylinders up to 120' long.
OD girth welds are also welded simultaneously by one operator from a remote console. Production man hours are drastically reduced by using the TSI innovation.
